Since its creation in 2007 by Pablo Castiel Gazier and Lorenzo Solari, our organisation has not stopped growing. This is due to the passion of its members, their own experience in working with students from all over Europe and the insight gained from the involvement of all our partners who have helped us to create such a prestigious event.
Even if the present day Solvay Business Game has evolved and is no longer identical to the first one, it still keeps in touch with the 4 main ideas which have been the underlying thread of our organisation.
Although the case method of learning is not frequently used in Belgium, it is a powerful interactive learning process that can bring the complex and dynamic realities of business analysis and decision making to a student’s mind. It also gives them the opportunity to get a good idea of situations they will likely be facing as soon as they enter their work-life. This is why, the SBG is working with its partners to provide case studies that can represent issues a company would be having to face in real life if you were working for it.
Throughout its different challenges, the SBG has always wanted to give a unique opportunity to students to challenge their minds in a perfect working environment and in different areas of business: Marketing, Strategy, Negotiation and Eloquence. Therefore we have always tried to face students with real issues and encourage them to provide original answers based on their academic knowledge, the data provided and their life experience.
On top of that we have from the start encouraged students t to give the best of themselves by providing exciting prizes.
The Solvay Business Game has always wanted to develop opportunities for students to meet potential employers. Therefore, we have always been convinced that having the opportunity to meet companies, talking with its employees, and being confronted with real business issues can help students make a better choice when they will apply for their first internship or job.
The Solvay Business Game has also always tried to enhance the experience of its participants by organising a two day event at incredible locations where they can meet new people from different backgrounds and countries, can work together with professionals from different sectors and companies and where they can win many prizes!
None of the events we have been able to organize until now would have taken place without the passion and the skilfulness of all the students that have worked for the Solvay Business Game. Most of them came from the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management but some also came from other ULB faculties (Polytechnic, Architecture, Art & history,… ) and other Higher Education fields in Belgium. We would like to thank all of them for their involvement. We also want to give a special thanks to all the externals that have helped us until now.
The page « Previous members » and « Our people » are dedicated to all of them.
In short, the Solvay Business Game is completely financed by sponsoring from private companies and non academic institutions that were ready to believe and invest in what we do. Therefore, we are delighted at their interest in the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Managemnet and our project. It is obvious that without the support of our different partners, all the editions of the Solvay Business Game would not have been so successful. Indeed, all our partners have always enabled us to provide our participants with the promised training, feedback and professional supervision.
As we look to the future, we will try to continue in the same direction and work with the same companies but we will also keep an open mind to new opportunities that may enable us to better the experience of our participants.
A special page is dedicated to each of our previous partners in the « Partners » section of this website.
The Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management is characterised by the impressive implication of its students in many associations within the school. The strong ties built by our belonging to a common school and the active collaboration of our memebers enable us to organisize, each year, a great event. Therefore we want to tank the SBS-EM for its support but also its student association.
